The Learning Environment

Classroom

The Montessori environment is divided into four main areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics and Language. All activities encourage independence, concentration, coordination and order. Our kindergarten program will align their lessons to meet or exceed Arizona State Standards. We also have an outdoor environment courtyard for gardening, easel painting along with a playground for free play.

Practical Life

These are real life activities such as buttoning, tying, washing, sweeping, pouring, sewing, etc. Fine motor skills are refined, ordered steps are carried out, independence is developed.

Cookie decorating

Sensorial

Specially designed materials teach children concepts and vocabulary using their senses. They compare and classify objects according to their size, weight, sound, color, etc.

Mathematics

Materials are designed to give a concrete idea of numbers and quantities by using objects, beads, etc. before moving on to abstract numbers of paper.
