Philosophy

Heritage Montessori School student Heritage Montessori School provides a specially prepared environment for children. The classroom activities range from simple practical life work to more difficult kindergarten level work.

The Montessori method is an approach to education developed by Maria Montessori, an M.D. in Italy in the early 1900’s. She believed children learn by interacting with their environment rather than passively having a teacher “teach” them. They learn through discovery using their 5 senses. They develop confidence by mastering the many hands-on activities that gradually increase in difficulty throughout the classroom.

Children in all programs are respected as individuals and encouraged to advance at their own pace. Teachers monitor progress and introduce appropriate work when a child appears ready.
